Getting started

    Please reach out via

    email hello@childsviewcounseling.org

    or the contact form.

We’ll coordinate a good time for a complimentary consultation.

  • 2.

If you choose to proceed with counseling services, you will receive a client portal link via email. You will set up an account and complete all necessary paperwork online. This typically takes around 30-45 minutes.

  • 3.

Once all the required paperwork has been submitted, we will schedule an in-person, kid free session. This initial time is dedicated to gaining insight into your child's specific challenges and requirements. All primary caregivers should participate in this session.

  • 4.

Finally, you can easily schedule your child's first play therapy appointment and subsequent weekly sessions through your client portal or by communicating directly with me.

…and then what?

  • Play sessions

Your child will have the opportunity to freely express themselves through various forms of play. Play is the natural language of children, enabling them to communicate and process their emotions and experiences. During our 45 minute sessions, I will follow your child's lead, giving them the space to grow at their own pace.

  • Caregiver participation

In most cases, while your child is in the play room, you will be in the peaceful waiting space enjoying 45 minutes of child free time.

If any concerns have come up throughout the week, I encourage you to email me either beforehand or during your child’s session; we won’t discuss your child in front of them.

  • Caregiver collaboration

You can anticipate an in person or virtual caregiver check-in every six(ish) child sessions. These check-ins are a time to address questions, concerns, and upcoming goals.

I may also seek permission to speak with individuals who spend significant time with your child. This may include teachers, babysitters, grandparents, etc.

  • Timeline

Many caregivers ask about the anticipated duration of their child's therapy. The straightforward answer is, I don’t know! Each experience is unique with so many possible variables.

Generally, some changes occur within the first eight to twelve weeks. However, lasting and substantial change may require a longer duration of support and commitment.
